Garnet School of Self-Sufficiency

Garnet School in Candia, NH. Resources, workshops, community for the person who wants to be more self-sufficient when times are good, and prepared if things go bad.

Our homestead is about 45 acres, mostly pine forest with a meadow out back. I’ve always wanted to create a school of some sort.

Immediately, we started clearing forest and building things. We cleared about an acre a year, and planted gardens, started chickens, and keeping bees.

I am a programmer, and Cynthia has a tailoring business. Over the years, we learned a lot of things by simply doing them. We tried a lot of things. We had some success, and some failures.

But we figured out a lot of things. Now it’s time to offer what we learned to the community.

We started Garnet School in 2020 as a place where we can share what we know, and for others to share what they’ve learned about homesteading, self-sufficiency, preparedness, and good food.

All workshops are held at our homestead in Candia, NH, about five minutes from Exit 3 on 101, halfway between Portsmouth and Manchester.

In one of the podcasts I listen to, the host said that he emphasizes the importance of gratitude.
