Birch Tree Tapping

April 2, 2023 @ 1:00 pm 2:30 pm

A sure sign that Spring is on its way is when you start to notice buckets, hung onto trees, peppered along rural roads.

There’s a sweet spot in temperature ranges that makes for tapping trees the most proficient; when the nights dip below freezing and the daytime temps are above and into the forties. We tapped maple trees in January and February and made syrup. Birch trees can be tapped when the weather gets a little warmer in the spring.

There is a wide range of methods for collecting and processing sap, from primitive ways to the latest innovations. We’ve done them all and would love to show you!

You will learn everything you need to know about collecting sap from drilling the trees and inserting taps to creating the final product of delectable birch syrup.

Be sure to show up a good ten minutes early so we can get settled and start the fun journey together. Most of the the class will be outdoors, so dress appropriately.

$20, kids under 12 are free.
