Living Room Farming
Living in New England, we have the long winters. After the leaves fall, we’ve got so many weeks of brown trees and then white snow. Spring comes and, with it, the greens and sounds of life renewed.
But what can we do to bring life to those long weeks when we are stuck inside?
There are some nice technologies that allow us to grow plants indoors. While these will not be enough to feed our bodies, having something green and growing that we can watch feeds our minds and souls.
In this class, we talk about and show the various commercial products that can be used to start and nourish plants, from salad greens to tomatoes and strawberries. Even flowers.
We’ll also talk about what you can make from materials that you probably have laying around the garage to grow your own food inside.
It seems like a trivial activity, but we’ve been doing it for years and it really does bring a sense of life and purpose to the long winters.
