Off-Grid Tiny House Living

Are you interested in off-grid living? Have you considered possibly buying or building a tiny house? This is the workshop for you.

The Garnet School Tiny House is available for a three-month full-immersion workshop where you will live, work, and play in our tiny house that is not connected to grid power. There is wifi available; we’re not Neanderthals, after all.

The house is powered by solar panels and batteries, which you will learn about as part of the workshop. There is no running water, so you will have to bring your own. There is a nearby spring-fed pond with water for showering, washing dishes, and gardening, and plenty of clean water up at the barn for drinking, but you’ll have to carry that up to the house.

The house is located on a small hill with incredible views, surrounded by a peaceful meadow, ponds, and forests. It is accessible by car or truck.

Many people ask about the toilet. The composting toilet in our tiny house is a pretty amazing device. You’ll be surprised how much it is like your flush toilet at home, without the expense and hassle of building an entire sewer infrastructure.

This workshop is designed to give you a feel for the challenges and rewards of living off-grid, as well as the challenges and rewards of “living tiny”. Wouldn’t it be nice to know these things before you actually build or buy your own tiny house?
